Colocation is a data center which will provide as a host for information. These infrastructures are set up for protection of such data .The client is responsible for managing the server. If there is a malfunction , such as running out of memory, it is the responsibility of the client to manage and correct the problem. Colocation will provide physical housing and security for data , uninterrupted power, internet access, and environmental controls (ie air conditioning and fire suppression). Data management is the sole responsibility of the client.

Managed Hosting takes colocation a step further by not only providing the infrastructure to store and secure data, but also provides the management of such data. In addition to colocation provisions, the managed host will also provide technical support , around the clock monitors mitigating any issues which might come up and maintaining the hardware as well. There is on and off site backup, part replacement and service, threat management and capacity planning . Managed Hosting will provide flexible services in accordance to a company’s needs. The client will determine the amount of control the managed hosts will provide.
